My Experience with Curriculum Development

I teach at the university level so I have had a bit of experience with my own classes as well as working with a research team changing the curriculum for pre-service teachers. This is exciting work because we are equals with First Nations communities in this! Recognizing that we need to work in partnership and no longer say "I can do this for you better than you can", it is exciting times here and long in coming.

Very cool. I would like to work with pre-service teachers someday so I am very interested in this. I would like to know more about what role the community played in curriculum development and how their involvement changed the nature of the course.

I too am very interested in your work with pre-service teachers. I always heard how great my undergraduate program was, but when I actually entered the classroom, I still felt incredibly unprepared. I think more work with curriculum and planning (especially modifications) is essential for undergrads. So much time was spent on content rather than how to implement it effectively.
